Devarayanadurga

Devarayana Durga Trip

It was accidental that we got to know about Devarayan Durga when we were searching about Sivaganga. Since it is only 70 km from bangalore, we planned for a bike trip.

Started early morning 5 รณ clock in two bikes with my wife and two other friends .It took only 20 minutes to reach Yeshwantpur from Indiranangar , and from there we took tumkur road.

It was actually a race with trucks and the road was not good for around 10 KM from “Yeshwantpur “and after that we got a very smooth and fast ride. Speeding in 70- 80 Km per hour, we could reach “Dobespet “at 7 in the morning which is around 50 Km from Bangalore.

From there we had to take the road under the flyover and then a right towards Devarayana Durga. The road from Dobespet to Devarayana Durga is awesome, only because there were hardly few bikes and bicycles to overtake. The condition of road is not too bad that you can easily drive in 50 KM/hr.

On the way we had a break for some exclusive village photo sessions and of course , one tea from a typical village tea shop. At last we reached some what a crowded area and thanks to god and HP, there was a petrol bunk , we stopped there also as we did not have enough petrol.

Having filled enough petrol, we headed towards our final destination. Still we had a 5 km of journey from there to Devarayanadurga.

The road towards Devarayanadurga is zig -zag with 10 hairpins and is a marvelous experience. As we were nearing the hill top, clouds and mist had already occupied the hill and we got a warm-but cool welcome. We parked the bike almost half KM from the temple. From there we had to walk. Steps are there all the way to temple. Since temple is not at the peak, we took a challenge to reach the top and walked through the bushes and rocks and finally reached the top. The view from top is splendid.

After having enough fun we stepped down and reached near the parking area. Small shops are there, where you can buy cucumber; small packets of nuts, biscuits and cool drinks etc.Never expect a nice hotel any were near the place.

Had a refreshing maaza time there and geared up to return .We took the road towards the national highway which is connecting Tumkur and Bangalore. We reached NH around 12 PM and had a nice rainy bath on the way. Reached Bangalore around 3’0 clock after having a nice heavy lunch from reliance restaurant on the national highway.

Things to remember.
It is better to go in bike as you can enjoy the ride through the village roads and is not that far from bangalore. It is nice to reach atleast by morning 7.For that you may have to leave by atleast by 4 in the morning.

If you are planning to reach back bangalore by 2 PM you can avoid taking parcel lunch, other wise it advised to take lunch as parcel as you cannot find any nice hotels any were near the hill.

It is a nice spot if you are planning to go for a half day trip.

Be sure that you have enough fule in bike for a 140 KM ride. I could see only one petrol bunk near the place and there fore dont take risk.
